1. One&Only The Palm
When traveling to Dubai, there are two One&Only resorts. The Palm and the Royal Mirage. Both are beautiful and both are extremely expensive, but summers in Dubai are hot and as the heat gets crazier prices drop to comparatively affordable levels. Just make sure you bring your sunscreen and a fan.
The Palm offers a world of cosmopolitan beach living with refreshing pools surrounded by elegant loungers, fine dining and beautiful grounds. In the peak winter season this can cost AED 21,270, while in the summer expect to pay around AED 2,700 per night. Same room, same hotel amenities.
One&Only The Palm is located on the tree-lined Palm Island archipelago. Dining is a big highlight here, with three wonderful restaurants helmed by celebrated French chef Yannick Alléno. The 101 Dining Lounge & Bar is hip with a DJ most nights and offers Mediterranean fare next to the resort's private marina. The Stay by Yannick Alléno offers French cuisine and the Zest restaurant is a relaxed al fresco affair.
2. One&Only Royal Mirage
Recognized as Dubai's most stylish beach resort, One&Only Royal Mirage offers three distinct environments: The Palace, Arabian Court and Residence & Spa. Larger than its sister hotel, the One&Only Royal Mirage offers luxurious rooms and suites, nine inspiring restaurants and dramatic Arabic architecture.
With over 65 acres of immaculate gardens, soothing fountains, arches, etc., you can get lost and find your own space to blend in with the magnificent foliage. Meandering paths lead down to the one kilometer long Jumeirah Beach.
The wonderfully unique rooms and suites at One&Only Royal Mirage vary across three stunning hotel areas - The Palace, Arabian Court and Residence & Spa - giving you a variety of room types to choose from, each with their own individual style.
In terms of prices, summer is the cheapest time to travel and similar to its sister hotel, prices can be almost ten times higher in high season!
3. One&Only Portonovi
One&Only's first European resort, Portonovi, offers a glamorous maritime lifestyle. Explore rugged coastlines lapped by sparkling seas and adorned with charming historic palaces, relax in sun-kissed hidden coves, visit the cobbled streets of the Old Town and hike through UNESCO national parks. We selected this resort at the top because Luxury Travel Diary is based south of London, England. Therefore, the opening of this resort offers an exceptional opportunity for us Europeans to enjoy the One&Only experience with just a short flight.
Unlike Dubai, you don't want to visit in the height of summer. In Europe, prices skyrocket in July and August. Outside the summer months, however, you can get a room here from as little as 495 euros per night.
4. One&Only Le Saint Geran
One&Only Le Saint Géran is a tropical island retreat where you can spend lazy days on your private patio or experience unique adventures in the Indian Ocean. Wake up to endless sea views on this remote island paradise, where ancient rainforests and volcanoes meet the azure Indian Ocean.
Here you can sometimes get cheaper prices if you book in the off-season. The low season in Mauritius is from November to March. The shoulder season is from April to mid-June and from September to October. The high season is from mid-June to August. Otherwise, just book in advance to get the best deals.
5. One&Only-Mandarina
One&Only Mandarina is a hidden retreat on the Riviera Nayarit with palm-fringed sandy beaches, swimmable shores and an energetic environment. Nestled in Mexico's coastal rainforest, with emerald cliffs plunging down to soft white sand and a warm, vibrant ocean, One&Only Mandarina is a glamorous paradise.
Depart your private villa or clifftop tree house and head down to the scenic Pacific Ocean to surf the waves or zipline through the rainforest canopy to start your day. The cuisine here is created by celebrity chef Enrique Olvera, with an ethos of bringing you closer to the natural world, where fresh and inspiring ingredients, bold vistas and a unique microclimate awaken and overwhelm your senses.
Stay for a great summer deal. In August, prices here start at $1,190. The price increases to $11,500 per person in December. Ouch!
6. One&Only Cape Town
One&Only Cape Town offers a bustling waterfront retreat where artistic charm meets traditional grandeur, framed by the dramatic mountain peaks of Table Mountain.
Nestled between the dramatic peaks of Table Mountain and the roaring Atlantic Ocean, spend warm, leisurely days by sparkling pools or bask in relaxation at the spa and balmy evenings savoring local specialties at the exquisite Nobu, Vista Bar & Lounge and Island restaurants .
Our summer (winter) is usually the cheapest time to visit Cape Town and summer (winter) the most expensive. Book at least 90 days in advance to get the best rates.
7. One&Only Nyungwe House, Rwanda
One&Only Nyungwe House, Rwanda is a rainforest-inspired eco-retreat surrounded by greenery with authentic Rwandan beauty.
Travel to Rwanda, where the unforgettable scents of the rainforest and verdant jungle terrain are endless and wildlife roam free. Fascinating wildlife, dramatic mountain landscapes with lots of greenery and its own working tea plantation; See natural wonders thrive at One&Only Nyungwe House.
Prices here are staggering at over $2,000 a night, but if you book in advance and during the winter, you can sometimes get a better deal.
8. One&Only Kea Island
One&Only Kéa Island, Greece is not yet open but will be a wonderful European One&Only hotel. An oasis in the azure Aegean Sea, Kea is an island steeped in history, myth and wonder. Set in a secluded cove of pristine golden sands, One&Only Kéa Island also boasts an enviable collection of private villas. I can't think of a nicer place to call home!
Similar to the rest of Europe, prices here are cheapest outside of the high season, i.e. April to May and September to October.
9. One&Only Palmilla
The award for the most popular One&Only resort booked by our luxury travel concierge clients is the One&Only Palmilla in the Los Cabos area of Mexico and we think it is one of the best luxury hotels in Los Cabos.
Perhaps One&Only Palmilla's biggest advantage over other resorts in the area is its beach, which is generally swimmable. One of the beaches here is safe for swimming all year round, although the waves here are both spectacular and rough. If you prefer to stay poolside, raise the infinity pools so you can enjoy the Pacific Ocean views even as the waves smash against this rocky peninsula.
However, if you're looking for good beaches, you should also consider that Four Seasons Los Cabos and Amanvari have similarly good beaches, though these can be found on the other, quieter side of the cape.
In terms of pricing, avoid the holiday periods and opt for summer, September to October and January to May, which usually offer the best prices. Christmas and New Year's are very expensive here. In August, prices start at around $1,890 per night.
10. One&Only Reethi Rah
One&Only Reethi Rah is the One&Only in the Maldives and is located on its own private island. It's the kind of place that offers endless beaches and is so relaxing you just have to decide whether to dip your toes in warm sand or in the refreshing Indian Ocean. Explore private beaches, open waters and a range of glamorous restaurants during your stay.
You can spend your days at one of the 12 beaches; You can train on two championship tennis courts, relax at the spa or go underwater at the Maldives' only PADI National Geographic dive center.
Secluded villas have their own private verandahs, the beachfront restaurants are idyllic, and the infinity pool is superb. But there's no easy way to stay cheaply here. The transfers alone are costly, and the Maldives are generally outrageously expensive. For this one you just have to hold your breath and open your wallet.
